Water
Sustain your adventure by bringing sufficient water to stay hydrated throughout your exploration—we don’t have a fountain where you can fill up.
Pet Leashes
When visiting with your pet, have them leashed at all times to protect not only your companion and fellow visitors but also preserve the delicate balance of our local wildlife and habitats.
Proper Footwear
Sturdy hiking shoes or reliable water shoes will ensure your trek is comfortable, safe, and in harmony with the environment.
Sun Protection
As you prepare to explore, ensure you are well-equipped with sufficient sun protection, like sunscreen and hats, to protect your skin throughout your adventure.
Bug Spray
To fully embrace the beauty of the trails without the discomfort of insect bites, equip yourself with sufficient bug spray. We recommend wearing long white socks, spraying shoes, socks, and hats. PLEASE always check yourself after a day at the preserve. Don’t forget your furry friends too!
Stroller
If you’re bringing a stroller with off-road capable wheels, choose our most stroller-friendly trail, portions of the Upper Octoraro Loop, designed for simple navigation.
Fishing Gear
If you choose to fish, bring the appropriate fishing gear to enjoy a successful day of fishing. Remember to adhere to state regulations and practice catch-and-release where required to maintain our aquatic populations. Fishing is allowed only in the Octoraro Creek.
Be Prepared to Not Have
While we strive to provide a rich natural experience, there are some amenities and activities we do not offer to preserve the integrity of our environment.

While we strive to provide a rich natural experience, there are some amenities and activities we do not offer to preserve the integrity of our environment.
Running Water
Visitors should be prepared for minimal facilities; while we provide a porta-potty at the entrance parking lot, there are no restroom facilities along the trails. Our preserve does not have water fountains, so bring enough water to stay hydrated throughout your visit.
Camping Gear
Please be aware that overnight stays and camping are not permitted within the preserve to maintain the natural state of our landscapes, minimize human impact, and for the safety of our visitors.
Hunting Equipment
Hunting is strictly prohibited at the Glenroy Preserve. Due to potential hunters on neighboring properties, we recommend visitors wear orange when hiking during hunting seasons for their safety.
